Well, I don't know. We used to have an earwig, but that is certainly not an earwig. I wonder if it is a distortion around the edge of the lens, like a raindrop that became optically multiplied? Looks like a fat worm, but isn't it a bit chilly? Although, a smart fat worm might have discovered the warmth of the infrared light.

"B", she has done a lot of sewing for 're-enactment' groups, and perhaps decided to set herself a challenge. I would think some Museum or gallery would offer good money for her finished product - it's beautifully and painstakingly embroidered.
