Feeding time on the swallows' nest

The parents visit the swallows' nest every few minutes, bringing fresh grub to the new chicks.

It's getting very busy now on the swallows' nest and the parents are working around the clock to keep their new chicks fed and watered! They visit the nest every few minutes, bringing fresh grub to the new chicks as they grow rapidly and change every day!

As well as feeding the chicks, the adults will also take away their droppings. If you're lucky, you will see a chick turn its back end to the camera and push out a white blob, ready for the adult to come along and take it away! Very good house keeping!

We are sorry the swallows' nest webcam has been a bit unreliable lately. We are aware of it and are constantly working to improve the reliability. We're fixing the software and tweaking the settings all the time and have had a good 24 hours now of 100% up time with the webcam, so hopefully most of the problems have been ironed out, just in time for all the action!

Thanks for all your work on getting the swallow cam to be more settled. It's been really interesting to see the baby swallows grow from not seeing them at all apart from the parents taking food in and small deposits out to what they are now; five very hungry and noisy babies. I have seen one bird exercising his wings and I am now looking forward to watching them fledge and flying off. What a wonderful job their parents are doing finding so much food!
