Sights and Sounds of Spring!

Hear the sound of a buzzard's call from above as a jay strolls nonchalantly in the grass.

On this clip you can hear the distinctive call of a buzzard soaring above. At least I think it is a buzzard! Do you agree? At the same time a jay strolls in front of the webcam, picking up little bits of seed dropped by the other birds from the bird feeder!

Thank you for this clip it was so funny to see the jay marching around quite oblivious to the buzzard's calls!

Nice one, Dan. If it is a buzzard it sounds incredibly close to the microphone!

I can confirm it was a buzzard after looking out of the window and seeing a pair of them circling over the lambwatch field, getting severle.y mobbed by other birdsAlso , not picked up by the microphone unfortunately, a skein of about 49 geese flew over, honking to each other.... a marvellous sight !

I am not sure whether they were Canada geese or Greylag geese but they were flying in a perfect V formation !

Oh Lynda that would great to see lucky you.

ooh there were even more sights of spring than I thought. Good ol geese

What a lovely clip reminding us that spring is really on the way AT LAST.Thank you Dan for cheering me up today, wish I was there on lovely day's like that.

Played this clip and my dogs thought it was something outside and went bailing out the back door, barking. When they came back in, I played it again. They finally caught on and gave me a dirty look. It was so funny! Thanks.

after listening to the different calls on the rspb site, the geese that flew over were Canada geese

ah, wonderful! Reminds me of a recent winter day when I could hear geese off in the distance somewhere, but never realised that I inadvertently photographed them when I was taking a landscape shot! : ) You'll have to choose the 'All Sizes' option above the photo to have any chance of seeing them, but there are actuallya couple of (very!) distant V formations in there. Hi Stuart - that pic is stunning I have to say, but sadly I couldnt see any V shapes even on full - size! Where abouts roughly are they?

Hi Dan - cheers. I've now added a note for you, so this should help a bit. They're far from obvious! : ) Go here and the notes should show up: [link]

Thanks Stuart for that - now you have pointed out where they are you're absolutely right - there are some geese there!! Talk about needing a magnifying glass !! What a great pic... where was it taken?

LOL - cheers mate. Like I say, they were incidental to the pic. It was taken in Dentdale, which is on the Yorkshire/ Cumbria border. Pretty near to the railway station of Dent.

Yes a Buzzard I have seen them I believe there are three, what a great time of the year spring has sprung
