12,000 Trees Arrived Today!

At LambWatch we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible and usually have some conservation-based projects going on. The latest project we are undertaking is a massive tree-planting project....
We have set aside approximately 22 acres of our land for the planting of a native woodland predominantly oak and ash but also some holly, birch, hawthorn, blackthorn, alder and rowan (mountain ash). The fencing work has already been completed (see gallery below) and on Friday last week, 8 thousand trees arrived which are now sat sitting waiting to be planted. Today a further 4 thousand trees arrived which completes the total of 12,000 trees to be planted over the next few days / weeks.
Scouts, local school children and members of staff from Barclays Bank have kindly volunteered to take on the planting of the trees over the coming period so we will have lots of pictures to show. We will try and point the camera on the action but can't promise anything as the area of land is quite far away so would need to fiddle with extensions and relocate the cam.
The woodland has been planted in partnership with the Woodland Trust and with the support of Lancashire Environmental Fund, Yorventure, The Veolia Environmental Trust, Barclays Bank and the Forestry Commission. This large scale planting project is just the latest and largest of a number of smaller tree planting projects we have completed over the past decades and we like to consider it our contribution to the world for future generations to enjoy.
