"Dream Dozen" Christmas 2009 Toys Revealed!

The Toy Retailers Association has revealed their annual prediction of the 12 best-selling christmas toys . This year's so-called "Dream Dozen" are all priced under £50, compared to last year's list which featured a robotic puppy priced then at £149.99, but now available at £17.99!

The 2009 must-have festive toys include Monopoly City, a modern take on the traditional board game, hamsters from Go Go Pets, a multimedia digital camera, figures from the movie Transformers 2 and action cars which shoot powder-packed capsules.

Gary Grant, Chairman of the Toy Retail Association, said: "This year the toy industry has turned the latest trends into innovative and creative toys . The list also reveals a trend towards nostalgic characters and brands which have been updated with a modern twist. Consumers everywhere are reverting back to heritage brands which will last longer than the Christmas season."

He added, "With licensed toys combining the fun and familiarity of popular characters as well as collectable, pocket money priced toys making a big comeback this year, we are in for an affordable, family orientated Christmas ."
