This live lamb birth clip features a third lamb of a set of triplets making its way into the wide world. The mother had had two lambs already in quick succession. We are always very pleased when a sheep gives birth naturally and so quickly, with no problems like this. All three lambs are female which is also another bonus.
The sheep had already given birth to two lambs by the time we arrived but we could tell another was on its way by the way the sheep was behaving: looking pre-occupied, slightly vacant, and scratching the ground. You can tell when a sheep has had all its lambs because it becomes noticeably relaxed and starts to concentrate on licking its lambs.
This third lamb was born smoothly and without complication, as the lamb was correctly presented in the womb and came out feet-first.
This was simply beautiful to watch and moved me to tears. Thanks for posting it, Dan!

I am always stunned at how animals give birth...usually without any problems and certainly fairly calmly. Thanks
