There was one particular sheep (G1) that spent this sunny evening going around picking fights with several other sheep, one of which was Lottie! We noticed afterwards that Lottie had a cut on her head! The trouble-maker was a so-called "Greenback" (G1), who is already not in our good books, as she has already rejected one of her lambs and is threatening to reject her other lamb. She is a shearling and they are known to be difficult mothers first time around so we are keeping a close eye on Greenback to make sure she is letting its lamb drink.
Why didn't Lottie walk away from Greenback (G1)?

Oh dear. How upsetting to see. Poor Lottie must have a headache. Can I ask a question? What is a shearling? Thanks :)

My question is the same as margaret's - why didn't Lottie just walk away. That's what one does with bullies. I'd send G! off to boot camp somewhere to learn some proper behaviour - or should that be baahaviour?

Christine - I think a shearling is a sheep that has been sheared once. Thus a lamb born in April and sheared in July (or whenever) is a shearling when they mate later in the year and lamb the following spring (but not necessarily a year old) they are shearlings if not yearlings..

Lottie is so sweet she's probably just not used to being treated like this even by another sheep.

These two are , in fact , sisters . Before she lambed, Greenback was very tame... not as much as Lottie ( her sister ) but since she has had her lambs, she has become somewhat intolerant, as is shown on the clip..She had better watch her Ps and Qs... any continued aggressive behaviour is not looked upon with favour !!!
