Thoughts On Elvis

Some of you may be aware that our most charismatic battery hen, named Elvis, has been looking a bit poorly lately - moping about, not eating much and looking a bit like E.T. ... Here is a pic of him at the moment and I was wondering if anyone out there had any thoughts as to what might be the matter with him. It's a bit of an odd stance for a hen as he almost looks like he is stood upright on hind legs!



We named him Elvis because his comb has always been distinctly curved over to the right of his head ever since he arrived at the farm a bit like Elvis's hair style!

So sorry to see Elvis in such a sad way.  I don't know anything about hens so can't help very much but notice that his left foot doesn't look to be in the correct position.  Has this anything to do with the way he is standing or is it normal for him?

Hi Margaret - I think the position of his leg is a bit of an optical illusion caused by the angle that I took the picture. Sometimes hens go a bit funny this time of year as part of the malt so he may well recover. Just thought I would post the message in case anyone could see what the problem was if it may be something obvious :P

Sorry to hear Elvis is under the weather.

She/He does not look very happy. 

Is it posible that she/he is egg bound and needs a helping hand to get rid of the eggs.

Just a thought but with Neil owning hens at Hencam could he give any advicee about Elvis?

We were very sorry to hear from Lynda this morning that Elvis had passed away in the  night. 

Rest in Peace Elvis......

poor elvis :( probably for the best anyway he was a bit worse for wear. Least he doesnt have to spend his days moping about unhappy any more. Rip elvis! Bless im.
