Introducing new forum tricks

Posted: 05 Nov 2008 22:44

When you create a new post or a new thread on the forum you will see a "Microsoft Word" style input form for your message. This allows you to enter more interesting text very easily such as:
big bold colourful writing with background colour and also different fonts like this...
Of course
this isnt always going to be necessary and what you may find more useful is the ability to

  1. make numbered
  2. listst like this one
or the ability to make
  • bulletpointed lists
  • just
  • like
  • this
or probably even more useful is the ability to insert an image at the click of a button:

Enjoy!

You can even insert a link too or use underline or italitalic font.... just like this...

To insert a link just enter some text, highlight it, and then click the link button and enter the links so for eexample i will write "LambWatch" and make that link to homepage!

*bump*

don't forget that there is more to the forum than just what appears on the homepage and the top of the "chat" page. You can access the forum via community and then forum. Or here is a direct link.

On the forum homepage it shows the two latest active threads for each of the forum categories.

What a wonderful addition to the forum Dan.

This will give a whole new dimension to writing messages.

I haven't quite mastered putting an image in yet but can manage the link:-

Any forum users may have noticed a "my details" link at the top of the forum after logging in. Until now this has been an empty page waiting for me to develop it. Well today I have started developing it! So far I have added the ability to add an "avatar".

An avatar is basically a picture that you can use as your "display picture" against all your forum posts. If you use any other forums on the Internet you will know what this is. You will see that the thread view of the forum has also changed to accommodate the new avatars and you can see that I have updated mine!

Anyone who doesn't have an avatar pic specified gets the default "NO PIC" picture. All you need to do to add your avatar picture is find the picture you want and upload it in the "my details" section!

The "My Details" link is at the top of the forum page, near the new thread and post reply links, but here is a shortcut:

MY DETAILS

You can use anything as your avatar, your favourite pet, a pic of yourself, perhaps something frmo the lambwatch gallery.... anything! It's a quick way to visually see who posted a message. If anyone needs any help on saving or finding an avatar (not compulsory of course!) then feel free to email using the comment form on the contact page.
