LambWatch HQ goes HQ!

Hi all!

Pat @ Camstreams has developed a new feature whereby broadcasters can broadcast streams in higher quality and he invited LambWatch to give it a try! So I did!

Naturally I was only to keen to give it a try so I am pleased to announce that the quality of the webcam pic has been increased by a factor of 7 (does anyone know the word for that? :P) You should notice some considerable improvement in picture quality, expecially during the day! Let me know what you think!

Also, it is very much a case of trial and improvement to see how it goes. The Internet has its limitations and the increase in quality may result in some viewers having difficulty viewing so I urge anybody that does experience any difficulties to please let me know. I may have to lower the settings if it's too fast for the Internet!!

That being said, if the farm's upload speed can handle it, I would like to think that most people's download speeds should also handle it but as I say, please let me know if you have any problems such as too much buffering or any other difficulties!

Please let me know if you experience any problems and enjoy the higher quality pic!

Very good Stephanie.  I didn't recognise the word so put it into a search and  'septuple'  means :

Consisting of seven parts or members. 2. Seven times as much in size, strength, number, or amount. n. A sevenfold amount ...

The pic does look good now Dan.  Is there any possibility for a little more colour saturation please?

Thanks Stephanie :) I did think it  could be that but it sounded a bit clumsy! (Honest!)

Ill be tweaking with the settings a bit today still so I'll see if i can increase saturation too :)

Aww Hi Debbie - please can you do a quick test for me:

Please can you visit http://speedtest.net/ and then when it has loaded, click the "Begin Test" button on the map (not the Start Now button)

Then when the test is complete, let me know what the "Download speed" and the "Upload speed" is on the test?

Thank you!

Hi Dan.

At home now and i have a perfect picture, with no problems at all.

Not so good at the shop, had trouble all day with a frozen pic and constant buffering.

.  The only pic I see (and it's magnificent - really sharp and clear and colourful) is from sometime around sunset, and the cam is frozen, but perhaps Dan is working on it.  On the other hand, this computer I'm using is definitely from some other century, which might explain a lot.  But it looks good dan!  Thanks for continuing to give us such fun!.

Just to let you know i haven't had a picture today, just buffering all the time.

Hi Debbie,

They are only over if you choose for them to be.

On your work PC, can you let me know the following details:

1. What operating system do you have (Windows XP / Vista / 7)?

2. What browser do you use? Internet Explorer / Firefox / Chrome ?

3. Who is your Internet Service Provider?

4. If possible, can you find out what version of Windows Media Player you have?

5. Can you confirm if your PC is all up to date with Windows Updates?

6. The download and upload speeds you provided earlier in this thread, were they from the PC you're having trouble with?

It may be easier for me to have a check of the settings. I have done this with a few other LambWatcher's PC's to get things working for them. We can use LogMeIn and I can give you instructions on how to do this if you wish...

What I would say is the speeds you posted were absolutely fine for viewing the stream at these levels and I think there may be something else causing the difficulties.

It may be easier to do the LogMeIn method as I can check all the technical details.

Don't worry - we'll get you going :)

Hi Debbie - no problem. It may be easier to go down the LogMeIn route as then I can check all the settings and make sure everything is optimised :)

Hi Debbie - would you be happy for me to try a remote assistance session on your computer with LogMeIn? This is going to be the best route. If you are happy for me to try this, please can you send me your email address using the contact page and I will send some instructions :)
