New features - Chat Icons

Posted: 27 Mar 2011 23:38:37

Dear all,

Just a quick note to say that a range of icons are now available in the Chat room. To insert an icon, simply click the link next to the input box. A window will appear with a list of icons. To insert an icon, simply click the icon you wish to insert!

Have fun!

You may have also noticed that on the homepage and the chat page, there are little x icons on the top right of the panels. If you click these, the panel will fade out. If you click them again, the panel will fade back in again.

The benefit of this is that if you want to completely "switch off" and just listen to the sights and sounds of the peaceful webcam, you can do :-)

They are amusing our tiny little minds.  I could play with them for hours!

Re: New features - Popups Hiding Behind Cam

Hello all,

Have had a few reports from some users that the LambWatch messenger and Icon list is being obscured by the live webcam pic.

As much as I'd like to advise the sufferes to upgrade to a better browser *ahem ahem* Firefox *ahem* I obviously understand this isn't feasible for some.

In order to fix it, I need to "see" it happening - i cant even get it to do it on my Internet Explorer :\ So what I need to do in order to fix it is login to somebody's PC who is experiencing this. If a willing volunteer would like to contact me (dan [at] lambwatch.co.uk) I will let you know how we can do this.

Thank u!

All people need to do is drag the icon window to the right and then they can still see the field..thats what I do..

The other solution is to go into message page from one of the other tabs that doesn't show the picture.  I went from Galleries this morning and it worked fine.  This was Margaret's suggestion.

Hi all,

Just had it pointed out to me there was a problem with loggin in to the site, incorrectly displaying a message of failed login.

This is now fixed :)

The issue with the message box being overlayed by the webcam image has also been resolved.

There is also a new feature lurking in the LambWatch website! But I'll let you find that for yourselves ;-)

It's quite exciting to announce the latest feature of this website. It calls upon the assistance of the resident lambwatch mice, Buttons, to help get things going again, when things stop working.

Fixing the webcam is now a simple click away!

Poor squirrel! The chat user number has been funny for a while now, and it is with huge relief that i have finally fixed it!

I havent said this much but when things appear "random", especially when a coder says something is random, chances are it is down to memory. And hey! it was! In a round about kind of way...

Squirrel's memory to be precise. And in fact, some of you may have seen a "Site temporarily unavailable! We must be experiencing _very_ high server activity right now." recently. Although not direectly linked, because squirrel was working so so so very hard at trying to remember everything in the chat room, it cant have been helping things!

Anyway, Squirrel's memory has been adjusted, and its all working fine, and a lot more efficiently too, so it may result in an improvement in performance. It will certainly result in an improvement in squirrels life expectancy!

Dont worry, squirrel is a red squirrel so he is a good un ;)

Have fun chatting!

Thanks Dan for talking to squirrel and jogging his memory.  Numbers have been fine so far so long may it continue.  Squirrel obviously needed to go back to school to learn to count higher.  He will be expecting more nuts if he behaves.

LOL :)

Yay!!  The bug fixes work!  They only seem to be needed, so far, in the evening and into the night, your time.

I've fixed a black screen once, on Thursday sometime, and a stalled picture (four hours behind real time) on Friday night.  Moved that from 9.15 pm to 1.15 a.m. while I was talking to Alex - perfect and immediate results.

Thanks Dan.

Re: Webcam Blackout

After a thunderstorm yesterday, the webcam computer seems to be having problems connecting to the internet...

I wont have chance to have a look at this until the weekend so unless it rights itself before then, we are looking at not getting the webcam back online until next weekend :(

And we will all assume that the sheep and lambs are having fun playing and munching unobserved.  They are probably saying, "Thank goodness - we're not being watched for once!"  No nosy people peering into our lives!
