I realize parts of UK have had more snow than normal, but how's this compare: 4ft in one day and another 1ft the next and then blowing and drifting! Our area has had 3 days in a row where almost everything was closed. Many major accidents and people stranded in vehicles for hours. Some had to be rescued by helicopter because the emergency vehicles couldn't get through. Just a good old fashioned winter in Canada! LOL ![]()

Oh, Nancy's in the snow belt! Be careful, friend, and don't take foolish chances. I'm afraid, if this is a contest, that I will lose. We only have about two inches and none forecast till much later in the week.

This isn't a contest at all...
I put this on the forum so if people were travelling around the country they would know the conditions they maybe hitting on the roads.
This was mainly for Dan and Heather if they are travelling North for Christmas
and anyone else who looks in at the site.

I hope everyone (especially those that have to travel or care for animals) has a very safe and healthy Christmas. I know it is December and we are meant to have snow at this time of year but it is a real inconvenience when so many people are travelling to spend time with family and/or friends.
Thinking of all the animals that live outside also especially our sheep family.
Take Care everyone please.

I am happy to report, since I have to drive,
that there is absolutely no snow in Toronto right now.
I bet Karen has lots, though,
and her drifts will make up for the lack of them here.
Drive safely all, no matter which side of the Atlantic you are on,
and walk carefully.
No "slip slidin' along", please, and stay upright.

You a Simon and Garfunkel fan Helen? We have 6+ inches at present (looks like more but that's what they tell us) but more forecast overnight. It is quite hard to walk in it, especially going up or down kerbs as you can't see they are there under the snow. Can make people overbalance. Some of my Christmas visitors might not make it as trains are severely disrupted and some roads are very bad. Thank goodness none of us are taking flights, those are complryrly up the creek..

No contest, it's just interesting to hear from different parts of the globe.
Stay safe everyone and have a very Merry Christmas!

Half inch came Thursday (Jan 6) with icy roads. Snowing now but we only expect another half inch to one inch. Again icy roads are expected for my commute home.
Snow is beautiful. I always enjoy it much more once I am home and don't have to drive in it.

Oh Dear...I think I would have you all beat as far as accumulation goes..but it is so pretty and white right now...I rather enjoy seeing it...We have several feet of accumulated snow. It certainly is a Canadian winter. You are welcome to see my photos on facebook..Although they are before Christmas photos...I will try to find time to give you all another peek. As far as driving and getting around....well the roads are well maintained, and we Canucks are so use to winter driving. It is the eejits on the road we have to beware of...The speeders and the inconsiderate.

How true about the eejits! But most people are careful, driving in these conditions. It's only the young and inexperienced, or those who think they are invincible, who take chances and imperil the lives of the rest of us. We have about 10 cms, or 4 inches, of fresh snow overnight. The morning commute will be slow. And to think that spring is probably three months away at the very least, in this neck of the woods..
