A Dialogue

Lynda actually wrote most of this.

All I did was suggest the first few lines.

The Owl and the Earwig posed for the cam

On a misty September night.

The Earwig did his stately dance

And blocked the Owl from sight.

Then Owl said, "Move out of my way,

I want to be admired."

The Earwig said, "I can't move fast.

I really am too tired."

"I wish that bug would move " said Owl,

"He really is a pest. "

" I won=t, " the Earwig cried out loud,

" It's a warm and comfy nest ! "

"You should be in a wall somewhere,"

The Owl was quick to add,

" It really is too much to bear,

You're making me quite mad !"

" I know " the owl thought one night,

" I'll try some >Yorkshire= speak...

Perhaps he doesn=t get me -

Or his hearing is too weak.

" Ey' up tha stoopid Earwig !

Tha mun gerrout of 'ere

Tha's gerrin int road, tha knows

Tha'll gerra clip round t'ear!!

"Nay 'eck" the Earwig then replied,

"Tha speaks t'same as me !

I'll shift me bum, then 'ave no fear

Then viewers'll  see thee !!

Perhaps the next poem will be about the budding romance between Ludwig the Earwig and Gerda the Earwig.

Time will tell....

Excellent Helen and Lynda... lol... I love the Yorkshire 'speak'... Lynda, I didn't realise how talented you are.. between you and Helen you could write a book of poems for Lambwatch fans.

Lol very funny :)

I know my pentameter is a bit out of kilter but the story does go on....

"Nay be gum be gorra" the owl did hoot:

"no need to shift thi bum"

But the earwig was aghast: "HOW COME!?"

"Well, Mr Wig, tha've bin Ear longer than I, when all's said n done"

"Eeh that's grand then' replied Mr Wig

"Mebbe we can both sit 'ere"

"If ah sit ear, and thee thea"

"We could 'ave a nice CUP OF TEA or appen a beer!".

The owl and the wiggy ear went on chatting

In a beautiful black and beige shade

They spoke of seeds and plenty of weeds

All fallen from Lynda's feed

The owl looked up to the stars above

And thought of Zorg's guitar

"Eeh Wiggy! Ehh Wiggy, me love!"

"What a grand little wiggy thee are!"

"Be gum be gorra!"

"What a grand little wiggy thee are!"

Well done, indeed, you two!  Glad you picked up on the original inspiration of "The Owl and the (Earwig) Pussycat".  That's what started me off.

Now, whatever shall we do with the second earwig?  There's something going on with those two!

I would have thought the Owl would have made a snack of Ludwig!
