Hello ?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (12 Mar 2010 02:13):
And some birds are already up - I can hear them, but they are probably nocturnal.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (12 Mar 2010 02:12):
Oops - raindrops.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (12 Mar 2010 01:55):
Off to bed for me. Sorry I missed you.

Windy night...
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (12 Mar 2010 01:29):
Well, right now, in Guelph, Ontario, it is milder than in Earby or Skipton or wherever the temp is monitored. Spring si defintely coming, and can't come too soon for most of us...
Catherine in Burnaby (ish), Canada (11 Mar 2010 21:55):
Check back later.

Cheer up, David, I jsut have a black hole.
David in U.K. (11 Mar 2010 18:05):
Tried refreshing, but still a green view. I suspect is due to my dodgy Internet connection not the LW site.
David in U.K. (11 Mar 2010 18:00):
I've now got a green view but can hear what sounds like running water! ![]()
David in U.K. (11 Mar 2010 17:59):
The brightness of the base of the new feeder is giving it a UFOish look (particularly in the smaller Camgrabs images).
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (11 Mar 2010 14:32):
It's awfully quiet out there in Lambwatch land. I can't even hear a bird.
Karen in Midland (ish), Canada (11 Mar 2010 11:20):

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (11 Mar 2010 09:19):
If he sits on the ice and eats .. then he will have managed to bite a hole in it

Debbie not in Bolton (ish), U.K. (11 Mar 2010 09:19):
The bird scared him
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (11 Mar 2010 09:18):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 23:02):

Sue in Yorkshire not in Manchester (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 23:02):
Think Jim will make her stick to the rules.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 23:02):
Why did she need six months of learning to be a shepherdess Sue? Does she not have sheep on her farm?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 23:02):

Sue in Yorkshire not in Manchester (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:55):
A pig in a poke
Meaning
An offering or deal that is foolishly accepted without being examined first.
Origin
'Don't buy a pig in a poke' might seem odd and archaic language. It's true that the phrase is very old, but actually it can be taken quite literally and remains good advice.
The advice being given is 'don't buy a pig until you have seen it'. This is enshrined in British commercial law as 'caveat emptor' - Latin for 'let the buyer beware'. This remains the guiding principle of commerce in many countries and, in essence, supports the view that if you buy something you take responsibility to make sure it is what you intended to buy.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:55):
Hi, Fi.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:55):
Whoops, look who's here
Fi in Ipswich (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:55):
hi
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:55):
Oh, yes, the litte would be the little piglets.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:55):
It was a herd of pigs that got driven off a cliff in the Gospel story.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:54):
I will
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:54):
just googled it.. its a herd of pigs or a litter of pigs
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:54):
Yes, and please let me know.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:54):
A herd of pigs, I guess they are.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:54):
Will have to look it up
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:54):
I've forgotten the explanation now
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:54):
Or dressed like lamb?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:54):
Same sort of meaning but a different story explaining it..
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:53):
Sort of like mutton smelling like lamb?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:53):
Well, that might ahve been what it was there. Here it came to mean that if you were buying a pig that was all dressed up, don't buy it - there's something wrong with it.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:52):
I thought a pig in a poke was a pig in a bag
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:52):
EDven I know that much. Don't buy a pig in a poke.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:52):
No, pigs ini a poke are pigs wearing bonnets.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:52):
Anyway, ladies, I jsut peeked in for a minute but it's nice to chat with you both - again.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:52):
That's apart from hens
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:51):
a poke of pigs ???
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:51):
But a herd of cattle, a large flock of sheep, and whatever is the collective word for pigs. - mind-bioggling.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:50):
I keep losing half my sentences. Never mind.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:50):
Jim, the farmer, has his father helping out as well
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:50):
I will in the morning but they will probably say they havent time to cover everythoing
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:50):
P woud keep them all busy. Must be a big farm.
igs and cattle. that
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:50):
if you *
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:50):
its certainly a huge operation, yes
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:49):
....especially is you e-mail them and ask if they could mention them
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:49):
Pigs and whatever else that farmer has. He must have a lot of help.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:49):
You never know Lynda.. they might mention those tomorrow...
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:49):
They ahve probably editted out a lot of things that you would miss but the ordinary viewer wouldn't know.
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:49):
what Helen?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:48):
Good heavens!!!
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:48):
its quite informative really but there is quite a bit they dont mention like rejections and trouble with first lambers but Im being pernickety and they only have so much time
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:48):
I bet you know your own sheep a lot better than tht farmer knows his.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:48):
The farmer has cows and pigs as well as all those sheep
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:48):
Small is sometimes better.
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:47):
yes I know Helen.. thats the difference I suppose... you are right
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:47):
But you have such refined sheep and you and Howard have your own gentle way with your little flock. The have a big oepration.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:46):
What do you think of the programme apart from all the noise they are making Lynda?
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:46):
anyway.. I will let you good people get to bed
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:46):
Whoops, I really wish I could see it but I can't and that's the way life is.
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:46):
I just wanted to talk about the prog... sorry to keep yoiu up .. I just cant get over the noise they make in the lambing sheds
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:45):
pic is coming and going
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:45):
I re the way it is.
ally wish I could see it. But I can't, so that's
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:45):
Last night tomorrow night
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:45):
Oh, I bet they will.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:45):
I'm a bit bushed tonight and not making a lot of sense.
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:44):
I bet they will be glad when all the crew disappear !!!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:44):
I meant Lynda, not a second Margaret.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:44):
Margaret sent me a photo, Margaret. Not the pleasantest of instruments, but I guess it works.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:44):
They did insert one though didn't they? It was interesting to see one.. no wonder you call it a coathanger
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:43):
Oh, faintly. Her eyes aren't glowing.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:43):
Thanks Lynda.
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:43):
it didnt show them inserting the coat hanger... perhaps it was too late for the sheep
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:42):
Oh, I see. Well, all I can see is the dust on my screen!! lol
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:42):
Using the lambwatch sign as a clock.. the sheep is at about ten o'clock
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:42):
he was checking them from the window Helen#
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:42):
Where is she?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:41):
I can see one
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:41):
Or ahvde they all gone.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:41):
Lynda - was Howard out in the field at about four o'clock this morning? Only there was a camgrab with what looked like a torchlight shining on the sign
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:41):
Im going to email them tomorrow to ask about the prolapsed sheep
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:41):
Margaret, can you still see the sheep?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:41):
Oh, dear. Well, the crook would be lovely, but the noisy paper would be dreadfully had on the ambs.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:40):
It must all be very hard on the lambs
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:40):
Helen, it was the farmer's birthday and was given two presents to unwrap.. one was a shepherd's crook and the other was in a big box wrapped in noisy paper
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:40):
And a television crew to boot.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:39):
That is prbably one of the effects of a big operation like theirs - 300 ewes?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:39):
He kept turning around to make sure the sheep were okay
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:39):
I didn't see it but I noticed that Jim, the farmer was a bit concerned about all the noise
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:38):
Ah..
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:38):
have just watched lambing live.. taped it from earlier.. couldnt believe the amouint of noise at the end when they were opening the presents.. there was a poor little lamb wandering about in the melee behind them, obviuosly totally lost.. did anyone see it ?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:38):
Are you still here Lynda ?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:38):
I can't see the others.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:37):
Wow, with the new internet setting they are so much clearer.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:37):
There are more in the background
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:37):
I was going to close down the lappy but saw the sheep
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:37):
Is that a sheep - yes, two of them!!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:36):
I'm just popping in for a second or two.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:36):
Yes Lynda.. I'm still here.. just about
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 22:36):
I'm here.
Lynda in U.K. (10 Mar 2010 22:36):
hello... anyone still here ?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:19):
Thank you.. you too .. chat tomorrow, all being well
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:19):
Thanks. have a good night.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:19):
Bye Helen...
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:19):
Bye for now.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:18):
Okay Helen.. take care and enjoy your meal..
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:18):
You take care. Maybe we'll chat later or tomorrow. I'm home tomorrow.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:17):
Oh, I hope so, too. Lovely sheep that she is.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:17):
Well, Margaret, I should go and put on the sweet potatoes for supper, and do a few chores. jsut relaly got home.
.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:17):
I hope she is in lamb...
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:16):
I hope Lottie comes through. that would be a otugh decision.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:16):
There are a variety of colours
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:15):
Certainly a bright colour, though. I wonder what the ewe thinks?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:14):
thanks. Well, I ahve never seen the one they use on ladies - the human kind, so I'm no farther ahead.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:14):
That shows what the coathanger/spoon looks like
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:13):
[link]
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:13):
NO, I didn't try to get it, but saw dan's mention of it.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:13):
I think it's called a curette in medical terms.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:13):
Did you hear the announcement on Radio 2?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:13):
Yes, much like what is used in a certain kind of women's surgery.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:12):
The part that goes into the sheep is spoon shaped
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:12):
There will be a renewed interest in sheepfarming after all this.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:11):
OH, I see.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:11):
That would make more sense than the coathanger.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:11):
It is shaped like a coathanger
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:11):
They showed a coathanger on the lambing programme but they called it a spoon (for prolapse)
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:10):
Of course. I forget about the new trees. I tried to see them on Google earth but had no luck.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:10):
young I should say
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:10):
Yes underneath them.. the new trees
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:09):
Not up in them but underneath them?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:09):
They usually like to keep to the trees
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:09):
Yes, it did.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:09):
Oh, I can well imagine. We lsot our biggest chain of dept stores altogether a few years ago, bu it wasn't the recession, it was just careless management and a lack of interest by the family which had founded it.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:09):
It sounded a fair distance away
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:08):
Never thought of that, but it's true that they call in the dark.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:08):
It's having a hard time of it with the recession
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:08):
Do you think so - could be.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:08):
a chain
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:07):
Oh. That's chain we don't have.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:07):
Sounds like a pheasant
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:07):
It's finished now. There is a programme about John Lewis Department stores now
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:06):
Are yu watching the Lambing Live?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:06):
Oh, well, it's some kind of lower-pitched bird - might be a bittern or a heron, maybe.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:06):
I couldn't hear anything.. I have the tv on
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:05):
That one.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:05):
The one that was just making the racket?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:05):
What is that bird, I wonder?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:05):
We have a little saying... sun before seven, rain before eleven.. something like that.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:05):
BUt then clear again tomorrow. We've had such good weather here.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:04):
Yes, although that one presaged rain for tonight.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:04):
Yes... the photos were good. We've had skies like that.. lovely to see.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:03):
I thought the sunrise reminded me a little of the sunsets on LW.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:03):
Thanks for your e-mails Helen. I'll reply soon
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:03):
Did you get that sunrise thi morning, Margaret?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:02):
Yes, she left in a bit of a rush, I think.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:02):
I missed Nancy leaving too...
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 21:02):
Goodnight Dan..
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:02):
Night night.
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 21:01):
im off now, night all byeee
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 21:00):
Or should that be clarity = yes, probably.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:59):
clairity of the air.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:58):
Bye, Nancy
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:58):
No, don't improve it - the picture is so clear now, and we don't need more sound. There was a certain about of bleating today off camera. Oh, yes, the calirty of the air would allow the sound to carry more clearly.
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:58):
bye Nancy
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:58):
it could be the conditions: very calm and crisp air carrying the sound better rather than distortion caused by a wind
nancy in London (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:57):
Well I have a lot to do. Good to talk to all of you. Ta Ta for now
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:57):
BUt it did sound like flocks of geese going overhead today, at several points.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:56):
Well, I'm certainly hearing things I never did before. Maybe I just washed my ears?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:56):
sound. that should read
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:56):
the sound should be the same quality, i could improve that too but figured video priority over sound
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:55):
My sonds is much sharper and I am hearing all kinds of things (including what sounded like overhead geese) today.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:55):
Dan, I wanted to ask you something about the site. When you improved the internet strength or whatever you did, to give us a clearer picture would this change the quality of the sound as well?
nancy in London (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:54):
He wasn't her type?? lolol
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:54):
Wll, she had enough time with that tup.
nancy in London (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:53):
maybe we could pray the "immaculate conception" into being...LOL
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:53):
Lets hope.
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:52):
im fine thanks Nancy
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:52):
which usually signals no lambs, but it could change, she could develop a bag
nancy in London (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:52):
How is everything with you Dan?
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:52):
but she has not much of a bag and is very fit
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:52):
Nop they are a day away from the March Break
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:52):
we hope she is in lamb too
nancy in London (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:51):
LOL the weather is too nice for students to concentrate
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:51):
I hope so too.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:51):
I was doing a tour of our school chapel. They were all out of it altogether.
nancy in London (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:51):
I hope Lottie is in lamb
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:51):
Oh, yes, I agree, but the students I tried to talk to this morning wouldn't agree.
nancy in London (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:50):
God conversations are good too...LOL
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:50):
hello Nancy
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:50):
HI, Nancy. Welcome back.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 20:50):
Hi Nancy #
nancy in London (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:50):
Hi Dan, Margaret & Helen
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:50):
Well, I know you don't carry passengers, but she is such a lovely sheep.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:49):
good conversation. God conversations are something else.
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:49):
she would have been down the road last year after she prolapsed had we not been so soft in the 'ead
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:49):
That's OK - you are in the mdist of a god conversation.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 20:49):
Hi Helen.. nearly missed you then
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:49):
I hope that isn't the case with LOttie. I know what happens to yows that don't produce lambs.
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:48):
hi Helen
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:48):
nope
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 20:48):
Nah!
any sign of an electric shearer for Howard this year?
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:48):
although it would be handy, to determine which sheep are in lamb and which are not. we are not sure if lottie is in lamb. signs sort of point to her not being but that could change
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:47):
no need for fancy equipment
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 20:47):
Hi, Dan and Margaret
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 20:47):
I wondered that.. .. makes sense..
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:46):
you can usually tell by feeling their belly
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 20:46):
It must be handy to know how many lambs are expected. How do you know if there are more to come?
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:45):
they wont scan our sheep as we have too few
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:44):
the wonders of having the sheep scanned to know how many are inside!
th
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 20:34):
Now we know why you call it a coathanger... they call it a spoon
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (10 Mar 2010 20:32):
oooh coathanger is getting some feature!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 17:32):
Yes, it is LYnda - I can hear her now.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 17:32):
And someone else as well. Lynda?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 17:31):
OH, I see them - Howard is down the field with them.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 17:29):
OK - sheep ! I hear you. Where are you?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 17:09):
Does anyone know if those are birds I'm hearing in the distance. They sound like flocks of geese passing overhead. Or is it that the internet connedtion is so improved that we are just picking up stray sounds from the area, bird calls, everything?
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:59):
Byeeee
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:59):
Take care. Bye bye
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:59):
It's right down the road from where I stay.
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:59):
OK see ya
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:58):
You mean the one in YOrk. Probably. I haven't been in it for year.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:58):
Lesley, I have to go - I'm at school and there are things I have to do.
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:58):
Are you going to the train museum
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:57):
How lovely. I may get there in May - I'm going tobe in York, but working out a driver and getting there at a time that would be convenient is going to be tricky.
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:57):
I have a picture of my 2 grandsons behind the house there on my bedroom wall
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:57):
Howard and LYnda worked with it on Sunday night, I think.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:56):
Not yet. One of those was a breech but it's OK, though its mother rejected it at first but things worked out. There is one expectant one which is beginning to prolapse, but they think that so far things are OK.
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:56):
I guess you answered that
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:55):
No problems this year?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:55):
Pretty cute they are, too. There is a longish video taken 10 days ago of the birth of one and the difficulties they had.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:55):
Yes, there are six. If you go to Forum you will see a posting - something about spring lambs, I think.
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:54):
Are there lambs yet?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:54):
Oh, so that's a small hard-drive?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:53):
Peter, someone on here should be able to answer your question, but I should think so.
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:53):
Nope. We will still use the old screen but no tower
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:52):
Oh, a mini laptop
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:52):
The new one has come in a box that is about 9x9 ins..ammmazing!!!!!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:52):
I don't know, Peter. Your best bet is to post in the comment box below and you will get an answer.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:51):
They do, eventually, begin to act up.
peter@heidi in Hatfield (ish), U.K. (10 Mar 2010 15:51):
we have 5 shetland sheep 4 to 5 years old will thay be able to have lambs at that age
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:51):
Both of us
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:51):
This one is getting old and has been putting up a few protests
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:50):
For you or for him
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:50):
Actually having to have a new computer installed
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:50):
Tell him you need some time there.
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:50):
He has had it tied up for months
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:49):
Oh, good.
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:49):
Ok. Hubby had to take the car to the garage so I got into the office for a change
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:49):
I see you've been moved to Niagara.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:48):
Hey! How are you?
Lesley in Niagara in Hamilton (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 15:48):
Hey Helen

Right in front of the cam now is a sheep eating on its knees... that is the one we have treated for a prolapse. She is also very lame with an abscess on her foot... we have done all we can to treat that too.. she should get better soon and be walking normally

sheep in the distance, clearly, in the sunshine!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (10 Mar 2010 12:45):

Dan at LambWatch (ish) (09 Mar 2010 21:14):
anybody with a question about the lambing live series, you are welcome to send your message to us and if we cannot answer, we will forward it onto BBC
Sean Forshaw in Lancaster (ish), U.K. (09 Mar 2010 21:07):
Hi The black lamb which has been a bit slow in getting going. We think we may know what is wrong!! It may have what is called 'wooled' this is when they drink milk it gets wool in its mouth which then may be swallowed and creates a round ball which can't be digested properly. Feeding it creep feed will help it grow which what you are doing. as lamb grows the indestines will grow too and the ball of wool will pass through it.And the lamb will go on and become as a fat lamb
Dan at LambWatch (ish) (09 Mar 2010 20:53):
welcome to everyone who has found us as a result of watching BBC lambing live!
farmer, Northamptonshire in Cardiff (ish), U.K. (09 Mar 2010 20:36):
Had you noticed the ewe prolapsing in the pen?
Quick tip. When adopting a lamb onto a single. Put a plastic feed sack under the ewe as she is lambing to catch all the fluid and then you can rub the dry adopted lamb in it!
amy taylor in Bolton (ish), U.K. (09 Mar 2010 20:32):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:29):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:28):
GOod heaven,s it's 5.30! I should do something about supper! It's still broad daylight here, and I didn't realise it was so late.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:28):
Yaakov, I put some instructions into Chat about how to send messages through this site. If you check the archives you will see what I wrote.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:27):
Hello Yaakov
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:27):
Hello, Yaakov.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:27):
Maybe they are cold.
Yaakov in Mazkeret Batya (ish), Israel (08 Mar 2010 22:27):
Hello to you
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:27):
I just head a sheep.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:27):
Oh we like Llandudno.. my sister and I are thinking of going there for a long weekend stay.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:26):
So I need to get in trim! I'm also heading to Llandudno, and it's a hike from where I stay to the shops, even to buy postcards or a stamp.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:26):
I wouldn't be buying anything at least nothing heavy ..
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:26):
I have to get walking if I am coming over there. It's the only way to get around York or to get to the underground in Hampstead, where I will be.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:25):
I could walk to the prom but I haven't walked that far for a long while so will work my way up to that
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:25):
Yes, you could, but on the other hand, you don't want to be carrying things - they slow you down and you don't have complete freedom of movement if you have parcels.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:24):
long, that should read.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:24):
I could walk to the shops.. they're not that far. I suppose I could plan out a circular walk via the shops
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:24):
Right now the paths are still icy, so they are closed. Won't be lng, though.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:24):
And of course, as soon as the paths open along the river, I can walk there - there will be something changing every day as spring comes.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:23):
I make destinations - like I'll walk to the bridge, or I'll walk to Col JOhn McCrae's house. I'm a long way from shops and ten miles from school, so that's no good.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:22):
Yes, that's a good idea.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:22):
Well, all of my French Grandmothers information was all hearsay, so I am sure there are errors. I think I'll leave what I ahve and add the new info as an addendum at the end.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:22):
I think I'll go in the morning time..
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:21):
I don't care much for just walking without having a destination
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:21):
When I lef work at four, I thought, well, I really am too tired. I'm probably not, but I jsut don't fel like it.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:21):
Have they said what part they want to correct?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:20):
Oh, I struggle with that, too. Can think of every possible reason why I shouldn't go NOW.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:20):
I finished and corrected the family history, Margaret, andjust as I had it finished, I heard from a website dedicated to my grandmother's family. They want to correct some of the info I have. This is good of course, but...
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:19):
I have to make an effort to go out for a walk each day ..
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:19):
Well, ofcourse she could have been just off camera and who would know?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:18):
Not too bad Helen..
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:18):
Yes, it's hard to tell. I could hear a sheep ths afternoon, but it was a lng way off.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:18):
She sounded a distance away
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:17):
So a busy day, it sounds like.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:17):
I wonder if she will make an appearance.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:17):
I went to see the nurse this morning and went out with my two friends this afternoon.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:16):
Singing again!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:16):
I hear Pusscat.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:16):
Goodnight
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:16):
What kind of day have you had, Margaret?
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:16):

Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:15):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:15):
Indeed, if anything happens.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:15):
Okay..
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:15):
Pleasee keep me informed
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:15):
Niht night.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:15):
Oh, it won't be long now.
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:14):
I will be back at some point. I want to see Ranvir's lambs
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:14):
Goodnight Fi. glad you had a good weekend
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:14):
Yes, or you get blearly-eyed.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:14):
Goodnight to you, to. Nice to see you on here.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:14):
We did work through when we were busy I must admit but, these days, working on computers, you need to have a break
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:14):
Anyway ladies, I am exhuasted from my trip so i am now going to bed, so goodnight to you both
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:14):
Do you get breaks for the ladies' room?
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:13):
our union guy make a morning and afternoon cuppa for our floor but we still work
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:13):
Yes, it does.. the nurse told me but I did know already.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:12):
I was just telling CIndy that wlkaing will always birng it down.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:12):
I worked for the council too and we always had a cuppa morning and afternoon.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:11):
Well, I was ot working on the balcony yesterday and my hands were very cold.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:11):
I've got to walk more .. I had my bp taken today and it's High
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:11):
I dont think I have ever been told I should have an am and pm break and I work for a council
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:11):
Knackered, as they say.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:11):
It's freezing here even with the sunshine
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:11):
If I hadn't had such a long day at school I would be out fo a walk right now, but I can't do it.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:11):
I used to get a tea break when I worked
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:11):
Almost, for us. It's been mild and sunny for six days and will last for a few more.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:10):
I think you are according to Health and Safety
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:10):
or part of the Labour Code.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:10):
Phew!!! That's nearly tropical Helen
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:10):
Oh, we are, Fi, it's a Labour Law.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:10):
believe, that should read.
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:10):
not the am and pm break Margaret
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:09):
Can you ebleive it is 8 degrees here?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:09):
You're entitled so it's up to you to take them
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:09):
I get an hour for lunch if there is time
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:09):
Yes, of course. It depends on the demans on one's time. But it is unjust to use emplyer's time for surfing if one has work to do.
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:09):
no
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:08):
Don't you get a mid morning and afternoon break Fi?
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:08):
oh well all businesses are different
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:08):
Same here. In fact, teachers here are allowed 45 minuters for lunch, but they don't really get tea breaks am and pm, because the time between classes is used for travelling.
.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:07):
Everyone is entitled to a break morning and afternoon and half an hour for lunch
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:07):
BUt sometimes I walk into the main office and they all are tuned into LW - just listening to it in between invasions of students, or as background.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:07):
Yes it does Helen
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:06):
ok
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:06):
NO, I agree, a website like this shouldn't be used if one is being paid for one's time. I'm not, and anyway, we have ten-minute breask between classes.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:06):
She is too busy too to go surfing in work
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:05):
Well, my job at school i a bit different, Fi, as I sometimes have some spare time between classes. And the joy of volunteering!
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:05):
It's usually FB
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:05):
Ruth only goes on them in her breaks
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:05):
that my opinion
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:05):
That balloon always makes me think a sheep is appearing, when I see it out of the corner of my eye.
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:04):
I never use these sites at work. too much work to do and its wrong. People should be working at work not surfing other sites
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:04):
'Tis, indeed!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:04):
Could be the shcool network. I didn't have time to fiddle with it today, but perhaps tomorrow.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:04):
It's a great idea
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:04):
Well, that could be. I'm hooked up through the school, though the computer is my own.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:03):
Some works computer systems don't allow certain features. My daughter can only go on certain sites where she works and when she can get on them not allthe features work
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:03):
Yes, whatever! Dan said he was going to give Fb a run for its money!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:02):
I'm home now and the envelope is there.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:02):
Well, they're private messages rather than e-mails but near enough the same thing
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:02):
Yes, Poor Dan - I am always bothering him with things.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:02):
About how to send emails thorugh this site.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:02):
Dan would have to answer that one Helen
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:01):
The one up on the top beside "home"
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:01):
What's that Helen?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:01):
That little envelope with the yellow pencil doesn't appear on my computer at work. I wonder why?
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:01):
thats what I told Yaakov to talk to Margaret or Sue
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:01):
GOod - I'm not very good at it, but Margaret has it all figured out.
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:00):

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:00):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (08 Mar 2010 22:00):

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:00):
The numbers disappear after five minutes anyway so there could be hundreds of people looking in
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:00):
if I am at work o wont see or hear it
Fi in Alton (ish), U.K. (08 Mar 2010 22:00):

Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (06 Mar 2010 10:02):

Just on phone Patrick
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:56):
Hopefully yes, most newer cars are more fuel efficient and eco-friendly.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:55):
It will be more economical too I would guess
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:55):
I thought that might be the case.
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:55):
Thank you Margaret lol
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:55):
Oh no that's only for brand new models - the luxuries are air conditioning, heated windscreen (for frosty mornings), heated seats and fold in mirrors.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:55):
I think you deserve another car considering how old your other car is
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:54):
My sister is going to university so we need a slightly bigger car now.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:54):
Does yours have the voice control?
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:53):
We had a test drive on Monday and it was very good - spacious and slightly higher up from the road than other cars.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:53):
Very good... it sounds just the job
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:52):
The registration is 2007 and it's only had one owner.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:52):
How old is the one you're getting?
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:51):
Hopefully. We're getting it second hand so it's considerably cheaper too which is a bonus!
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:50):
Thanks for the link... it's a good looking car... you will be chuffed with that
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:50):
It's called the Ford Fusion: [link]
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:49):
I just might know the one you are getting
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:49):
I'm going to ask what kind of car but I'm not too sure about makes etc... lol
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:49):
Tomorrow we're getting a new car as we've had our old one since 2003!
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:48):
Thank you both - see you soon!
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:47):
See you soon Michele..
take care
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:47):
Bye Michele, speak soon hopefully
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:47):
That's the idea.. to keep you guessing.. lol
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:47):
Well, I appreciate all your good info! I should sign off now, I really ought to be working! (sigh!) See you later!
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:46):
It's very good and unusual. I'm can't tell who is responsible for the crime at this stage though as almost everyone seems to be a bit "fishy".
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:45):
Oh yes. I am Patrick.. going to be watching tonight
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:45):
shaky
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:44):
A question completely off topic here, but Margaret, have you been watching the drama "5 Days" on BBC 1 this week?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:44):
It sometimes works like that but if you start a tree , here at least, you get a shakey leaf with ancestry hints which helps to find possible relatives
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:43):
Oh, good idea! I see how that would work; any tree that your relative appears in would be in the results list.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:42):
I gather the American one does the same as the UK one. You have to give your credit card details but if you don't wish to continue, you just ring them and cancel
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:41):
Somewhere like Ancestry.com give a two week trial period. You could try it and put a name and birth date in and see what comes up.
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:41):
Ah, okay, you're right. It's not my surname in any event, nor my mom's
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:40):
Yes, that's a lot to sift through!
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:40):
Don't put too much info on here Michele .. no e-mails or addresses or anything like that (just in case you didn't know
)
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:40):
Oh that is good, might take a while though
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:39):
That's a good start!
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:39):
Ah, I typed in "Woods" and got "137153
family tree matches"
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:38):
Well there's no harm in trying anyway ![]()
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:37):
Well, if I were looking to find out where my English relatives came from it might help?
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:36):
I just checked Genes Reunited and it says "the largest family tree website in the UK" so that may be no good for you.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:36):
You could look at both sites and compare subscriptions
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:35):
You're welcome Michele, although Margaret's link may be better - ancestry.com
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:34):
I'm on Ancestry.co.uk but there is Ancestry.com as well which is the American site
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:34):
Thank you Patrick! I'll write it down...
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:34):
With my mother, though, it would be difficult to rely on her memory, unfortunately, it's not at all what it once was.
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:34):
Just to let you know, "Genes Reunited" is a site you may be interested in, however, I'm not sure if it applies to the U.S.A: [link]
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:33):
Ah well. so long as you have some information.
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:33):
Yes, I've been fortunate in that respect with my father and his brother; they've written so much down, and a cousin on that side did a very nice family tree...
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:32):
Yes.. it is still mindblowing when you think about it.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:32):
My sister and I just wish we had asked more questions while we could
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:32):
It's amazing what you can find on the internet though; makes it so much easier to connect with others
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:31):
Take a notebook and pen and gather as much info as you can.
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:30):
Yes, it's just my mother and her brother who are still alive from that generation...
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:30):
Okay Patrick
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:30):
Names, dates, places and any other family information.. Keep a tight hold of any documents etc.
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:30):
I'll be back in 2 seconds everyone!
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:29):
I would recommend that you glean as much information from all your older relatives while you can
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:29):
It was on the doorstep to all the lakes
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:29):
I really haven't much; my mother doesn't have a lot of info, though I probably should do some digging! It would be interesting to know.
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:28):
Wow it looks lovely there too Margaret!
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:27):
I used to spend holidays in Kents Bank near Grange-over-Sands... I have fond memories of that area.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:26):
That is very possible. Have you researched your family?
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:26):
We've driven past the Lake District on the motorway at night when we were travelling to Scotland and there were no street lights! It was absolutely beautiful though as there was no light pollution and you could only see one or two farm houses every so often.
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:26):
Not that I'm aware of, my English relatives are from further south... I think there must be a past life connection or something!
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:25):
... or even Lancastrian blood
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:25):
Do you have Yorkshire blood from your ancestors?
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:25):
(my spelling is atrocious!)
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:24):
We did travel around the Lake District a bit; beautiful, but it didn't touch me like Yourkshire does...
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:23):
I've never been to Cumbria itself but I agree Yorkshire does have some lovely hills.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:23):
Which part of Cumbria Michele? Did you visit the Lake District? That is beautiful country
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:22):
So very lucky! The first times I went to England I was in Cumbria, also lovely, but not as lovely as Yorkshire.
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:21):
To the north east is Newcastle, etc.
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:21):
Both myself and Margaret live in the north west of England.
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:21):
Yep
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:20):
Ahh, Thanks! So you're relatively north as well...
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:20):
Oldham is about 30 minutes away from Manchester and an hour away from Liverpool.
Michele in Ravenna (ish), U.S.A. (04 Mar 2010 19:20):
Sorry!
Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:20):

Patrick in Oldham (ish), U.K. (04 Mar 2010 19:19):
