Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:36):

maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:34):
Dry and sunny, warm but not hot and little wind. What more could anyone want?

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:33):
Nuisances, and so dirty. We cull them occasionally.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:33):
Yes, I'm sorry about them. they took a right turn instead of a left, and ending up in the UK.

maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:33):
We get Canada geese and all sorts.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:32):
I can't type today - it's too hot.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:32):
Sometimes, just nborth of Guelph, one can see six or seven early in the morning flying from the river over head.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:32):
Sorry, where I am, but mostly I just see...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:31):
There are a few farther down river from whee I am, but mostly I hest see geese and ducks.

maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:31):
Ours are huge. If they fly past the bedroom window early in the morning it is quite scary.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:31):
They are awe-inspiring.

Dan in U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:31):
i saw a heron earlier too.. like a pterodactyl!

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:30):
Oh, that's good, Sue, I like that.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:30):
We have a heron here in Canada that is slightly larger than your grey heron, and is more of a slate blue. Magnificent things.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:30):
Oh, I love herons. Lovely big wings that flap so slowly you wonder who they stay airborne.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:29):
I thought the same, Janet, but I'm not sure.

Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:29):
Reminds me of Eddie the Eagle,,,,,lol,,,Eddie the blue tit ready to jumpt the ski slope..

maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:29):
I wish I could get a pic of a heron in flight. They are all over here. Feed on the fish in the lake behind me (sort of a fly-through Mc Donalds). Always gone before you get a camera but magnificent in flight.

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:29):
For some reason I think Joplin is in Missouri.

Dan in U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:28):
lol not really. poor thing just looks static

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:27):
Didn't you want to lower your head?

Dan in U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:27):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:27):
That's a wonderful head-on shot.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:26):
Right Dan. It makes me want to duck! Coming in for a landing.

Dan in U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:26):
Yeah, its just been saved

maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:26):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:25):
Oh, must look. Maria, I answere your email.

Dan in U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:25):

maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:24):
What is it Dan?

Dan in U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:24):
the latest camgrab in the gallery is funny!

maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (01 Sep 2010 20:21):
I am minded of Janis Joplin.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:18):
I wonder where Joplin is? The only Joplin I know is Scott.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 20:16):
I like the look of this one in front of us, stretched out for a nap or a rest. at least she isn't dealing with our heat.

A42 in Joplin (ish), U.S.A. (01 Sep 2010 20:14):

15:00

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 15:50):
What a beautiful scene at LW-so peaceful. Every time I have looked in this week I kept thinking of the Messiah--Sheep May Safely Graze.Think the heat has affected my brain--I don't usually wax poetic and musical!!

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 15:43):
Helen if you are out there--thanks for the good wishes. We are ready for it--big drums of water.,lots of canned goods that we can heat on the BBQ and lots of bread.You eat a lot of that when the power is out and it always does go out! During Juan it was five days for us but people outside of the city waited almost two weeks.

14:00

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 14:05):
Janet, if you look in, it is hotter there than here today. I hope you all survive Hurricane Earl.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:37):
Oh..thank you Helen..

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:37):

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:36):
I have a ton of cleaning to do ...but if I get all the bathrooms sanitized ..i will be happy..

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:36):
Don't answer the phone, meanwhile, in case they call you.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:36):
OH, lovely. Storms forecast, though so be careful.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:36):
We may head out in the boat in the afternoon...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:36):
Hurray. How did you work that. Go to Barrie or someplace where they can't call you in.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:35):
I am OFF tomorrow!!!!!

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:35):
Well, I think I will head for the shower and bed. Do you work early tomorrow?

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:35):
AAAhhh Yes...beckoning...I like that

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:34):
I nearly did the same.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:34):
A beckoning beacon.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:34):
That could have say bacon...,,,but I saw my mistake..

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:34):
I liked becon, myself. It's a beconing light.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:33):
Yes, in case the sheep are out late.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:33):
beacon

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:33):
A little becon in the dark..

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:32):
Oh, yes, I do now.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:32):
Sir Davids light...I see it clearly..

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:31):
In the house?

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:31):
It must be misty - I cannot see Sir John' light.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:31):
Yes..I saw that comment...

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:31):
no really ...i have areal moth ..

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:30):
I saw a moth land on the feeder the other night.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:30):
Oh ..about half an inch or so...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:30):
Have you got a moth? I ahve no moth.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:30):
Yes...and I have a huge moth in front of mine...UUUGHHH

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:30):
He looks enormous on cam. I wonder how big he really is?

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:29):
He usually has his boots right in front of our faces.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:29):
The camouflage wasn't working.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:29):
Well...He is a good sock washer...boot polisher...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:29):
The other night, between earwig appearances, there was a sheep pretending I couldn';t see her. She was behind the sign, but one eye and one ear were showing.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:28):
well behaved and very educated...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:28):
Do you thik we can civisilise him. If only he wouldn't wave his legs in front of the view.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:28):
He has a lovely wife and very polite children...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:27):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:26):

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:25):
Oh my...they are not got parents I think..they lay eggs then leave them to chance,,

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:25):
I have one of the photos as my screen saver - sheep and some beautiful hills, and I realised as I enlarged it that Earby is clearly in the background through the trees. There were fw leaves out yet.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:24):
Yes ! Frau Ava Von Earvig...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:24):
I wonder how many offspring earwigs really produce?

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:24):
Lucky you ..to reminisce, about the farm in real experience ..

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:23):
Frau and Herr von Earvig.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:23):
OK. Goes with Earvig as well. Eva EarVig.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:23):
Short and sweet..

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:22):

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:22):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:18):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:18):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:17):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:17):
We'll have to get a name for Mrs. Like Lidwina or soemthing.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:16):
My comment about Ludwig was that I thought perhaps Mrs was expecting, as he was pacing back and forth.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:16):
Yes...are we going to get a family on the lens...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:15):
YOu need Mike to help - he's a dab hand at taking shots with his own camera.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:15):
I got the angles all wrong...my neighbour....was napping...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:15):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:14):

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:13):

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:10):
Exactly...

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:10):
And huge industrial fans...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:10):
Ha ha - just mvoes the hot air around.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:10):
We have what they call an air Exchanger...

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:10):
You';; have heat stroke.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:09):
Oh I bet. Why not AC? that's dumb in your surroundings.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:09):
Good - I might have watched it just for that, but couldn't take any mor violence against women.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:09):
no..I do not work in AC...It was hot today...

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:08):
Same ol same ol...But the did had some descendants of the victims..and som e scenes of modern day London

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:08):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:08):
But I slept most of today because of the ehat so I feel better tonight. I hope your workplace has AC.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:07):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:06):
Oh, I saw the beginning of it but couldn't bear to watch it.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:06):
I just watched a documentary on Jack The Ripper

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:06):
And you too. I've been under the weather for a few days but better tonight, I think.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:05):
I'm wondering of Mrs Earwig is expecting. Mr. Earwig has been pacing back and forth all night.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:05):
I mean...good to see you

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:05):
Oh Good

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:05):
Hi, there!

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:05):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:05):
No sheep sneaking around tonight.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:04):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 02:00):
In fact, he's pacing.

01:00

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 01:59):

00:00

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 00:38):
Going to watch a BritCom.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 00:37):
Janet, planes are more probably going out of Leeds Bradford. I think Sue told me that - she lives in Yorkshire.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 00:29):
Did I miss you both? Oh, well. I'll send a message with Ludwig.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 00:28):
It's 29 here too.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 00:28):
Who's complaining? Not my Nova Scotian friends.

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 00:21):
Hi Karen--please excuse my complaining but its too hot to do anything but sit at the computer and do just that!

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 00:10):
Ludwig waving at me...

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 00:09):
Janet ?

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (01 Sep 2010 00:05):
See the temperature is 9 degrees---here it's 29. Give me strength or a very large fan!!

23:00

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 23:55):
Hear planes occasionally. Would they be landing or taking off from Manchester airport?

21:00

Stephanie in Dayton (ish), U.S.A. (31 Aug 2010 21:25):
Ludwig? Is that you on the lens? You must come to Ohio...it's 32C today. Oh, I see that excited you. You must be on your way here.

19:00

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:40):

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:40):

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:40):

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:40):
shall we go next door Cindy?

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:39):
A two way phone isn't quite the right name for it

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:39):
An ordinary phone but with an extra handset for another room

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:39):
What is a two way phone

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:38):
That's the one Cindy

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:38):
Yes.. she was given some good books. cash, a two way phone, toiletries and flowers

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:38):
"Baby its cold outside"

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:37):
Did Linda get some nice birthday presents

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:37):
Is that a song?

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 19:36):
Yes, sorry. I really can't stay.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 19:36):
I couldn't see who they were - one was one of the dark-faced, being bullied a little by a white sheep.

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:35):
That was a quick visit Helen

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:35):
Missed that Helen..

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 19:35):
Gone now, sorry.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 19:35):
Goe now - head butting. bit strange.

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:34):
Yes it was. I had lasagne

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 19:34):
I can't stay but there is an altercation going on far right.. One has almost pushed another off screen.

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:34):
Was it a good lunch

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:33):
No.. I would have done normally but it is my sister's birthday today so we all went for lunch and then back to hers for half the afternoon

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:33):
Have you been bowling today

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:32):
It's gone quite cold at night.. I had to put an extra covering on last night

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:31):
There is a heavy dew every morning

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:31):
He has three more outsides to paint - got so far behind because of the bad weather

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:29):
That's great... the forecast for the week is good

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:29):
Another day and a half then he moves inside

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:28):
It is nearly finished then (the outside)

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:28):
Finished all the gloss - now it is cuprinol on the wood beams and front door

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:27):
Yes.. I wondered about the front..

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:27):
Yes he finished the back ten days ago before the wind/rain started

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:26):
Will he get it finished do you think?

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:26):
He is working every day until weekend

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:25):
Yes. it is... when is the painter coming back?

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:25):
Hello Margaret - perfect for painting on the prom

Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:24):
Hello Cindy... it has been a lovely day hasn't it?

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:21):
I can hear Howard playing the piano

Cindy in London (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 19:21):
Hello on this lovely sunny evening

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 19:12):
Here comes a sheep.and another one.

15:00

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 15:54):
Hi Claudia--you have got the C and F just right. Took me a while to get used to it having grown up in F days but it's semi automatic now. Must away and make lunch--nice to meet you.

claudia in Nashville (ish), U.S.A. (31 Aug 2010 15:42):
Janet, I have met Ludvig too. He is very creepy sometimes.

claudia in Nashville (ish), U.S.A. (31 Aug 2010 15:41):
lovely day there. Let's see I double the temperature and add 30? that would make it 66F there?

claudia in Nashville (ish), U.S.A. (31 Aug 2010 15:40):
hello!

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 15:37):
I have met Ludvig--persistent little devil isn't he. I am surprised that one of those birds has not made a meal of him, but maybe they find earwigs indigestible!

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 15:33):
Yes I notice a heat and smog alert up your way. Double trouble. Smog is something we rarely get fortunately.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 15:23):
Yes, it almost feels cool to look at this field today. It's blazing hot on my balcony.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 15:23):
I just remember how many trees Halifax and area lost during that storm.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 15:22):
I remember Juan - from a distance, of course. That was a terrible storm.

14:00

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 14:51):
During Juan the siding blew off the side of the house across the street, and flew into the side of ours, We looked like swiss cheese! I like what I am looking at now much better--and only 17 degrees. Bliss.

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 14:37):
I think you are right Helen but it's a hard way to do it! The last big one, Juan, six years ago was a doozie. We lost seven big trees and things are just beginning to fill in again. I'll take the heat!! We'll soon start to batten down the hatches.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 14:36):
Well, I guess it isn't very useful if it just sits in the field like one of the sheep! .

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 14:35):
It looks as though the digger has moved - I don't see it behind the bird feeder. I guess it is being put to work.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 14:35):
Look at that field of sun! Beautiful. It's almost too hot here to sit out in it and it's only 9.30 a.m.

13:00

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 13:44):
Janet, when you get this, it looks as though you will be getting Hurricane Earl by Saturday. That will solve your heat problem.

09:00

Debbie in Manchester (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 09:10):
Good morning

07:00

Yaakov in Tel Aviv (ish), Israel (31 Aug 2010 07:58):
Good morning

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 07:53):
woodpecker

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 07:47):
Lovely sunshine there. Good morning everyone.

blackpool dave in Manchester (ish), U.K. (31 Aug 2010 07:24):
good morning all looks like it is going to be another nice day.....

03:00

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 03:52):
I bet the poor littel sheepies are cold, and all huddled along the wall. Even Ludvig von Earvig has given up and gone wherever critturs like him go. .

01:00

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 01:30):
No gleaming eye or perked up ear tonight.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 01:29):
I heard you, sheep. Wher are you?

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 01:13):
Hey, one of the moths just landed on the feeder. I wonder if he likes sunflowers and nuts.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 01:12):
I understand, Janet. It was 33 here today and I'm not even in a big city. I cannot imagine what Toronto is like right now. And to think that one morning last week it was only 5 when I got up.

Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 01:00):
Janet?

00:00

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 00:48):
Air conditioning that should be.

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 00:47):
There has been little rain and it is so dry that the leaves are falling off the trees before they have turned colour. Bring back the old days I say!

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 00:45):
It is over 30 here and none of us have air conditionang--we never used to need it. Usually we were freezing in the fog. The summers have changed completely since we have lived here.

Janet in Dartmouth (ish), Canada (31 Aug 2010 00:42):
Have just looked in Helen and can see it winking away. Good to know what it is. See the temperature is only 8.

23:00

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 23:31):
Janet, if you look in tonight you can clearly the light we were talking about this morning. Go up off the left end of the sign and it is just below the upper edge of the picture.

Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 22:21):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:21):

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:21):
I am starving, friends, so I think I need to go and do something about supper.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:20):
They were thick around the streetlamps at night, and everywhere you stepped. Not pleasant, I'm sorry to say. Crunch, crunch.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:20):
We once had an infestation of them here, many years ago.

Yaakov in Tel Aviv (ish), Israel (30 Aug 2010 22:19):
nice belly

Yaakov in Tel Aviv (ish), Israel (30 Aug 2010 22:19):
Sweet.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:18):
Could be, Yaakov. I have never studied earwigs closely.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:18):
Well, hopefully you will get sunshine during the day to warm things up a little.

Yaakov in Tel Aviv (ish), Israel (30 Aug 2010 22:17):
Maybe it is scratchig?

Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 22:17):
this is going to be every night for the rest of the week.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:17):
I ahve my sound off. But it is close to the microphone so I guess it's possible.

Yaakov in Tel Aviv (ish), Israel (30 Aug 2010 22:17):
It make slight noises.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:16):
Heat, that was, not ehat.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:16):
We had a night like that last week. Things sure changed in a hurry.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:15):
I wonder how much ehat the light actually does give off. Infra-red - I don't know anything about them, or how hot they are. .

Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 22:15):
The temp got right down to 5c last night around 2am.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:15):
Or his toes.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:15):
It's 32 here right now, Yaakov.

Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 22:15):
maybe he shifts his body away from the heat as he is burning his bottom.

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:14):
I think this one is a bit of a good luck charm.

Yaakov in Tel Aviv (ish), Israel (30 Aug 2010 22:14):
Only 10°c

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:14):
We call them fireflies, and yes, we have them over here, Yaakov.

Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 22:14):
earwigs do Helen just in case someone tries to get rid of them..

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:14):
I wonder what he is doing there on the light? He can't be foraging for dinner, but he's awfully active if he's just trying to keep warm.

Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 22:13):
mexican wave..

Yaakov in Tel Aviv (ish), Israel (30 Aug 2010 22:13):
Have you seen fireflights?

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:13):
We could all do the wave at the same time!

Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:13):
Yes, and it's funny that he only becomes lively in the dark.

Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 22:12):
~~~~~wave ~~
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:12):
Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 22:11):
yes haven't had chocolate fro ages..
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:11):
Oh, so one candy has no calories but ten have ten thousand calories?
Yaakov in Tel Aviv (ish), Israel (30 Aug 2010 22:11):
Ok Helen, have a tasted supper
Yaakov in Tel Aviv (ish), Israel (30 Aug 2010 22:10):
I add the weight by the amount mainly' not by the calories. mainly
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:10):
And no chocolate, either. .
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:10):
I should really go and start supper.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:09):
Just hearing about them puts on weight.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:08):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:06):
Sue, did I hear you say you had given up chocolate?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:06):
Sunrise is later, too.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:05):
Well, not early for this time of year, Yaakov, as we are heading for the equinox.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:05):
cannot, that word should be.
Yaakov in Tel Aviv (ish), Israel (30 Aug 2010 22:05):
The night has come ealy.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:05):
He is a bit of a nuisance, but he's harmless, and since this farm works so hard on preserving the environment, I annot imagine anyone ever killing him just becuase he sits on the lens.
Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 22:04):
Ahh I knew I had missed his christian name off,sorry couldn't remember what it was,,,
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:04):
Hi, Yaakov. And Hi, Sue.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:04):
Thought Herr Von Earvig was your pet Helen,,,lol,,,
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:03):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:02):
A slow dance.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:02):
And makes a better door than a window.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:02):
He (or she) is realaly very active tonight.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 22:00):
This is a peaceable kingdom - I don't think they kill things like earwigs, even when they are such nuisances as this one is.
21:00
Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 21:40):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (30 Aug 2010 18:16):
Hi, Fi. I just thought you should know that a tropical storm is brewing off the coast of Africa and is going to be named "Fiona". But it may not develop into anything major - two other hurricanes are working their way up the Atlantic right now, beginning with the letters "D" and "E".
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (30 Aug 2010 18:09):
hello
Goodnight Maria... sleep well
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:35):
I am shattered so I think a bath and an early night will be in order. Night everyone.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:34):
It's chilly this evening
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:34):
A sudden movement from somewhere?
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:33):
The caps lock can be very annoying Sue.
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:33):
Oh, they ran.
Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:33):
sorry didn't realise caps was on.
Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:32):
nOT KEEN ON kIT-KAT'S.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:32):
Like I said about the sponge cake Maria.. it's all a matter of taste..
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:32):
I don't like chocolate, which my daughter says is unnatural and weird!
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:31):
Good... I tucked into a kitkat after my tea tonight... only a twoer though
Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:31):
oh yes it was yummy..it's a treat for me as I have had no chocolate at all for 3 weeks.
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:31):
I had a softee ice cream, after the chips. All overpriced rubbish but it's part of the day out.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:29):
Did you enjoy your ice cream?
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:28):
I think we're the odd ones out lol
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:28):
Thanks Sue...
Sue in Yorkshire not in Leeds (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:28):
Just jam in the middle..then shake icing sugar on the top of the top layer.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:27):
They are scarce around here
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:27):
The llamas were very popular this year.
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:27):
We have seen a lot of sheep, horses, calves, pigs etc today. That is what we are used to here.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:26):
It's good to see them
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:25):
Sheep all around the sign. Wonder what they are after.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:25):
I went down to the prom with my sister to watch the waves and the wind was sending the sand straight at us. I've been finding sand stuck to my face since I came home.. lol
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:24):
It was windy at times and there was some rain but mostly it was OK. I had a pac-a-mac.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:23):
I'm glad you had a good day Maria.. was it windy? It's been blowing a gale here
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:23):
We have been to the country show today. Walked for 6 hours, spent a lot and are all tired but happy. This is an annual event here.
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:21):
I always make extra because I know some will be eaten hot, before they are decorated.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:21):
You are right there Maria
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:20):
You can't beat home-baked bread and cakes. They go - well, like hot cakes!
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:20):
It is probably a matter of taste
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:19):
The bought ones seem to have both and I do the same.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:19):
There has been a difference of opinion and I just wondered what other people put in their cakes.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:18):
Thanks Maria... we have only ever put buttercream in our cakes
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:18):
I put both Margaret.
Margaret in Birkenhead (ish), U.K. (29 Aug 2010 20:11):
Here is a question for you! For those who make their own sponge cakes, who puts jam in the middle and who puts buttercream or both?
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:59):
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:59):
There ya go...or read all the labels on everything in the larder...
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:59):
As a bone fide Newfie I'll tell you it's don't not can't with the th!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:59):
They will be laughing so hard they won't hear the rest of it.
mikethemorrismanin Timbuctu in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:58):
Hey/..that's a good way to diet..just think about supper
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:58):
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:58):
I would pay to see that !
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:58):
And then you can read some of the variations on a theme.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:58):
Oh, do!!! It sounds hilarious.
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:57):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:56):
Now in Nova Scotia this might be called a Nor'easter, except that it is coming from the west (which is odd.)
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:56):
Enjoy you repast Fi
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:56):
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:53):
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:53):
Green Sleeves is greensleeves
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:52):
Yes, that is actually the way Newfies talk. Can't or don't do "th" sounds
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:52):
I'v lost you, Fi, what names.
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:52):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:52):
Indeed.
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:52):
the names does not have a space in it
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:51):
mikethemorrismanin Timbuctu in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:51):
Better correct that...farther...sorry girls
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:51):
Karen, byt the time the sheep get up close and personal in the dark they are grey.
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:51):
From some reason I thought of the song Green Sleeves...
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:51):
mikethemorrismanin Timbuctu in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:51):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:51):
Night, Maria.
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:50):
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:49):
Funny how everyone is in "Open" and no-one in the old room.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:49):
I don't know. Lynda might have been blown away.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:48):
I'm just being a cautious canuck.
mikethemorrismanin Timbuctu in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:48):
I'm a bloke but I'm a "If at first you don't succed....give up!
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:48):
where did Margaret and Lynda go
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:48):
No, not bells, or riding bicycles or anything like that.
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:48):
Might be rude Mike.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:48):
No, I'll tell you sometime when I won't embarrass you in front of the others.
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:48):
Tests their mettle..
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:47):
Heath.
mikethemorrismanin Timbuctu in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:47):
You say your picture is freezing...we don't have touch screens over here..and what was the comment pray?...nothing to do with bells perchance!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:47):
this wind and rain make the farm sound like the Heat in King Lear. Or Wuthering Heights.
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:47):
It's about endurance. Oliver has done all sorts, even the Ironman. No idea why. I guess it's a man thing.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:46):
Thank you karen. You got it.
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:46):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:46):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:45):
Well, Mike, that invites a comment I won't make.
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:45):
I have never done it but my oldest son was the only one to get the Gold award. It is very prestigious and looks good on the CV.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:45):
Picture is freezing.
mikethemorrismanHeaven in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:45):
We Brits do all sorts of strange things
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:45):
i did mine in 1983
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:45):
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:45):
you will see when you read the link
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:44):
Oh, Ok.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:44):
I don't mean to disparage the award, maria, but why would someone want to do that?
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:44):
Something to do with survival techniques. They have to survive in watery conditions.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:43):
They are. They blew in over the trees.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:43):
That sounds dumb, pardon me, but why do you have to stay dry. Just standing there and not getting swept away would be feat enough.
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:43):
The brollys have landed...green sheep back on terra firma...
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:42):
Helen, it is to do with outdoor orienteering and survival. The Gold is very hard. You have to stand under a waterfall and still be dry inside your clothes after 20 mins, It cost a lot!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:42):
Thanks, Fi. I will check it later as I have to leave this site to check links.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:42):
I see sheep out int he rain.
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:42):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:40):
mikethemorrismanHeaven in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:38):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:38):
You and Mike and I could meet there, Maria.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:38):
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:38):
I have never ben to the New Forest. I should.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:38):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:34):
mikethemorrismanHeaven in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:34):
I am on youtube ...singing my salty old songs....just about to put a couple more on
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:34):
You should see my mother-in-law after and evening of condensing ...her hair gets all sticky and crisp with the sugar in the air..
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:33):
And then what happens to it. Do you really do the labour intensive thing and boil it down?
mikethemorrismanHeaven in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:33):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:30):
But for the pioneers it was their only source of sugar.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:30):
Yes, that's why it is expensive.
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:30):
Ratio: 40 gallons of maple water to one gallon of syrup...
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:30):
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:26):
Very very good paint job ,,I must say..
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:26):
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:26):
No ..I see green blobs on the grass...
mikethemorrismanHeaven in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:25):
All the contraptions eh.....moonshine springs to mind
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:25):
It's a long project to produce it - days and days of boiling and straining.
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:25):
Give over Mike, they are just further away!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:25):
Lynda in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:24):
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:24):
That wind sounds dreadful.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:23):
I visited a farm about three weeks ago and they had it by the gallon. If I could have figured out how to brng it home an divide it up, I would have brought you all some on my next trip.
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:23):
Lynda, have you named the new lady of the flock
Karen in Barrie (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:22):
Very busy summer....lots of work...and Fi, I saw Amber last week end...she has sprouted...
Fi in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:22):
Where the sheep gone
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:22):
maria in Eastbourne (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:11):
mikethemorrismanHeaven in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:08):
Lynda in London (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:05):
they are grubby looking as they have had a good dousing of fly repellent. It makes the other sheep pink but the suffolks just go " grubby looking"
mikethemorrismanHeaven in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:05):
I never peel.....just place in bowl of water with a dash of malt vinegar to remove the insecticides and then I scrub 'em and boil some and freeze some!...aaaaargh -exclamation mark attack!
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:05):
OK - I cannot tell them apart on the cmaera.
Helen in Guelph (ish), Canada (28 Aug 2010 20:05):
mikethemorrismanHeaven in Mytchett (ish), U.K. (28 Aug 2010 20:01):
I am usually asleep in the armchair from 7pm....then I wake up and go to bed and sleeplike a log
